Principle

Laser, together with electron beam and ion beam, are collectively called high-energy beam. The common feature is that the beam carries high energy transmission in space, and by focusing, the irradiation of 104~1015W/cm2 power density can be obtained near the focal point, which is the highest intensity heat source. Laser has high brightness, high directionality, high monochromaticity and high coherence characteristics, which is incomparable to ordinary light sources. Using the high brightness of the laser, it can produce temperatures of thousands or even tens of thousands of degrees near the focal point after being focused by a lens.


The laser emitted from the laser is transmitted from the optical fiber to the focusing lens, and after focusing, arrives at the surface of the workpiece to be cleaned from the inner hole of the nozzle. Usually use the nozzle, with the help of the laser coaxial small hole nozzle will have a certain pressure of gas blowing to the cleaning area. Gas is provided by the auxiliary gas source, its main role to prevent the lens from being contaminated by spatter and soot, and play a role in cleaning the surface of the workpiece, strengthening the thermal role of the laser and the material.


The object surface attached to the fine particles are mainly oxides and dust. The mechanism of laser cleaning particles is the thermal expansion of particles under the laser beam radiation, the thermal expansion of the substrate surface and applied to the particles of light pressure and other three. When the combined force of these forces is greater than the adhesion of the object surface to the particles, the particles will fall off, and get cleaned.


Methods

Laser cleaning method has four kinds.

(1) laser dry cleaning method, that is, the use of pulsed laser direct radiation decontamination.

(2) laser + liquid film method, that is, first deposited a liquid film on the surface of the substrate, and then decontaminated with laser radiation; when the laser irradiation on the liquid film, the liquid film is heated sharply, resulting in explosive vaporization, explosive shock wave to loosen the substrate surface dirt. And with the shock wave flies away from the surface of the processed object, to achieve the purpose of decontamination.

(3) laser + inert gas method, that is, in the laser radiation at the same time, inert gas blowing to the substrate surface, when the dirt from the surface will be stripped immediately after the gas blowing away from the surface, in order to avoid the surface is re-contaminated and oxidation.

(4) the use of laser to loosen the dirt, and then cleaned with non-corrosive chemical methods. Currently, the first three methods are commonly used.
